Accredited Supervisor Course (PACFA Pathway)
Successful completion of this course provides participants with the Clinical Supervision Services Certificate of Attainment in Professional Supervision. This PACFA accredited training allows participants to apply to PACFA for accreditation as a PACFA Accredited Supervisor. Applicants must contact PACFA directly regarding accreditation criteria.
The aim of this course is to provide a framework for conducting and evaluating effective clinical supervision using a competency based framework incorporating reflective practice. Participants will develop the necessary skills for setting up a rewarding clinical supervision relationship to enhance supervisee learning and skill development, considering the systemic issues of their workplace/team and client group.
How the course is structured:
Part 1: E-Supervision workbook with self-assessment and learning tasks
Part 2: 2 day interactive skills based workshop
Part 3: Assessment of competency (conducting a supervision session – live feedback and report
Part 4: Videoconference supervision sessions
Part 1: Supervision e-Workbook
Prior to attending the 2 day workshop participants are provided with a free Supervision e-Workbook covering core preparatory readings, learning resources, links to clinical supervision training videos and podcast lectures. As a participant of the Accredited Clinical Supervisor course you will be expected to work through and complete all learning and the self-assessment tasks. This workbook is an invaluable guide that covers how to set up, conduct and evaluate effective supervision. Topics covered in the E-workbook include:

Part 2: 2 day workshop (7 & 8 February 2022)
At the completion of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- understand the key concepts involved in setting up and maintaining a collaborative clinical supervision relationship, using evidence based practice and considering professional practice and workplace guidelines
- have a well-defined theoretical understanding from which to base clinical supervision practice
- identify the roles and responsibilities within a clinical supervision framework, including consideration of the ethical and legal parameters of clinical practice
- discuss prospective supervisor’s and supervisee’s knowledge and understanding of the supervisory process
- be able to identify the supervisee’s strengths and needs for supervision
- demonstrate and provide information on how to structure individual, peer and group supervision sessions
- explore and provide a framework on how to give feedback regarding clinical practice and case management
- learn how to deal with ‘crises’ and stressful situations which may arise for the supervisee in regards to their clinical practice
- identify and provide information on how to evaluate supervision sessions and maximise supervisee professional development
- develop skills to balance both administrative and clinical responsibilities.
Part 3: Assessment of Assessment of Supervisor Competency Skills (9 February 2022)
Each student will rotate through 3 three positions; Supervisor, Supervisee and Observer. Each position is to be completed over a 60-minute period. All students are to bring real and relevant issues for supervision to the workshop.
Goals of competency evaluation:
- Demonstrate supervision skills and knowledge
- Provide an opportunity to reflect of what you have learnt and how you will put knowledge and skills in practice
- This is an assessment task to evaluate your ability to conduct a supervision session, provide effective feedback and use relevant tools facilitating a competency based reflective supervision session.
Part 4: Videoconference supervision sessions
3 x 3 hour videoconference supervision sessions are provided.
The course is endorsed by ACA, PACFA, ACWA and AASW for professional supervisor training.
About the Presenter
Christine Senediak Qualifications: BA. (Hons), M Psychol (Clin), M. Family Therapy
Christine Senediak is Principal Director of Clinical Supervision Services and has over 35 years of experience working as a clinical psychologist, educator and supervisor. She has a strong interest in evidence-based practice and systems theory and integrates this in her work as therapist, educator and supervisor. In 2014 she was appointed one of the National trainers to provide PsyBA Supervisor training and in 2015 the practice has grown to now provide eight Master Classes in supervision, and has a team of experienced Clinical Psychologists, a Neuropsychologist and an Organisational Psychologist who also offer training in this field. She is an accredited AHPRA Approved Supervisor Trainer and Supervisor; Accredited Family Therapy Supervisor, AAFT In addition to her work with AHPRA, Christine also offers supervision, short courses and workshops and consults to agencies on matters relating to mental health and wellbeing across the lifespan.
Certificate of Completion
On successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Attainment in Professional Supervision.
