Evidence-Based Family Therapy Models (10 cpd hours)
About this module:
This topic introduces current debates within Family Therapy about evidence-based practice and outlines 4 models considered to have a broad evidence base:
Attachment Based Family Therapy; Functional Family Therapy; Multi-Systemic Family Therapy; and Family Based Treatment.
The module consists of 4 self-paced sections and includes video demonstration, practical examples, reflective tasks, readings and a short quiz.
The course is suitable for health and welfare professionals who currently work with or intend to work with families. This module will take 8-10 hours to complete, including learning tasks, readings and assessments (10 cpd hours).

- Have a brief overview of the common factor debate within family therapy.
- Develop an understanding of the scientist practitioner debate in family therapy.
- Understand the integrative approach to family therapy.
- Have an overview of family therapy models considered to have an evidence base.
- Identify the major interventions within each model.
- Begin to apply the concepts in evidence-based models to families.
