Competency Based Clinical Supervision

About this Workshop

This 2-day skills-based workshop is for allied health professionals, social workers, pychologists (not seeking PsyBA supervisor accreditation), and clinicians working within counselling and/or health care provider roles. Professionals working in mental health, paediatric, child, adolescent, adult and aged care are suited to attend this course. Previous participants have included those working in private practice, community health, hospitals, in-patient units and NGO services.

The interactive workshop provides participants with a thorough understanding of the principles and practice of effective clinical supervision. You will learn how to set up and conduct effective and supportive supervision, learn how to give feedback and evaluate supervision incorporating best practice standards and reflective practice. Participants will benefit from the opportunity to discuss case scenarios reviewing ethical challenges and how to manage, support and promote supervisee self-care.

The workshop is delivered via Zoom using breakout rooms for small group discussion and practice sessions. You must be able to join the workshop using your camera and have sound for class participation. Numbers are strictly limited to allow for interactive class activities, maximising your learning experience, just as in the classroom. Comprehensive resources and handouts provide participants with a clear theoretical framework on how to set up, deliver and evaluate supervision.

All course notes are provided electronically, including references, PowerPoint presentations and a Supervision Resources Handbook.
